FML's First-Time Client Guide

Hey there, gorgeous brand! Thinking of spicing up your visuals with some FML magic? We're thrilled you're considering us, and this guide is your passport to commercial photography mastery (well, at least the FML kind ). Buckle up, because we're about to walk you through the process, step-by-step, so you can feel like a total boss every step of the way.

1. Start the Conversation:

  • Introduce yourself and your project: Briefly describe your brand and what you need captured. Mention any deadlines and specific requests you have.

  • Attach an RFP or mood board (optional): This helps us understand your vision and saves on back-and-forth communication.

2. Let's Get to Know Each Other:

  • Expect questions: We'll ask about your goals, target audience, desired look and feel, and budget.

  • Think about: Project purpose, shoot dates, location, number of deliverables, and desired usage of the images.

  • Phone call vs. form? We offer both options; choose whichever feels most comfortable for you.

3. Your Personalized Quote:

Once we understand your project, we'll send a detailed quote outlining:

  • Job description: A summary based on your answers during the Q&A.

  • Licensing information: Explains the rights you're acquiring for the images.

  • Itemized cost breakdown: Separates production expenses and FML's fees.

4. Let's Talk Pricing:

  • Review the quote and ask questions: We're happy to clarify anything and discuss your budget.

  • Remember: Quality often comes at a premium, and FML is committed to delivering exceptional results.

  • Open negotiation: We value collaboration and strive to find a solution that works for everyone.

Understanding Fees:

  • Day rate or photography fee: This reflects the photographer's experience, skill level, and shoot type.

  • Licensing fees: You purchase the "right to use" the images based on your intended usage.

5. Contract & Pre-Production:

  • Contract signing: Formalizes the agreed-upon terms and delivery date.

  • Producer available (optional): We offer project management to streamline the process.

  • Creative call: Collaboratively plan and finalize shoot details.

6. Advance Payment:

To secure the shoot date, talent, and other resources, an advance payment is typically required. This can be:

  • 50% of the total expenses + fees, or

  • 100% of the expenses and 50% of fees.

We accept payments via ACH, mailed check, or Bitcoin. The advance payment is usually due no later than 14 days prior to the first shoot date to ensure smooth production setup.

The final invoice is then due at the time of, or within 30 days, of final file delivery (unless otherwise stated in writing).

7. Showtime! (The Shoot Day):

  • Collaboration is key! Your feedback is valuable throughout the shoot.

  • Relax and enjoy! We'll handle the magic behind the lens.

8. Post-Processing & Selection:

  • Raw image processing: We fine-tune the images for clarity and consistency.

  • Basic retouching: Includes minor adjustments and blemish removal.

  • Advanced retouching (optional): This comes at an additional cost if requested after the shoot.

  • Image selection: Choose the final images you wish to license.

9. Final Touches & Delivery:

  • Advanced retouching completion (if applicable): We finalize any requested advanced editing.

  • Final file delivery: You'll receive your high-resolution images via Dropbox or WeTransfer.

10. Final Payment and Enjoy!

  • Settle the final invoice: The license to use the images begins upon full payment.

  • Go create something amazing! We're excited to see how you utilize your captivating visuals.
